New York City Home Sets Rental Record for a Casual $125,000 a Month

The biggest barrier to entry to living in the Big Apple is, for most, paying rent. On average, renters in the city pay $4,650 a month for their units, according to RentHop. But some New Yorkers—including the newest tenant at 100 Vandam—are prepared to shell out six figures monthly for their Manhattan apartments. A luxe duplex in the Hudson Square building has set a new record for the highest publicized residential lease in the city, at $125,000 a month, per the New York Post.

Nest Seekers International’s Jessica C. Campbell held the listing and shares that the tenant made an offer the very same day she showed them the space, which she describes as “one of the most spectacular residences I have ever seen in the city.” The abode’s six bedrooms and seven bathrooms are spread throughout the 20th and 21st floors of the 25-story building. Campbell tells AD that the panoramic views from each space in the unit helped to seal the deal, along with a private roof terrace larger than most apartments in the city, at 3,900 square feet (and multiple Juliet balconies throughout the duplex providing additional outdoor space). “The rent attained is quite significant and is a downtown record, but also quite deserved for such a trophy residence,” she says.
