Andy Cohen Buys West Village Penthouse in Emery Roth–Designed Building

Andy Cohen will be moving soon, but the Bravo host is staying in New York City’s West Village. As reported by the New York Post, the television producer signed a contract for a duplex penthouse perched atop one of the neighborhood’s tallest buildings, a 17-story pre-war Emery Roth classic structure. Asking price was $18.3 million.

Emery Roth was the architect of choice for the Bing Brothers, early-twentieth-century apartment building pioneers “responsible for developing some of the most sought-after addresses in Manhattan,” according to the New York Times. This starchitectural team was known for luxury market buildings with ornate detailing on facades, spacious interiors, and multiple setbacks which created roomy outdoor spaces for apartments on floors that were setback.

Cohen’s new apartment is no different, boasting almost 3,000 square feet of interior space, together with 1,950 square feet of exterior space between the two floors, including a wide wrap-around terrace on the first floor. Ceilings soar throughout the apartment with 10-foot heights on the duplex’s lower half, and 14-foot heights upstairs.

Public rooms on the lower half of the residence include the study, living room, formal dining room, kitchen/breakfast room, all flooded with natural light and breathtaking views of the city, afforded through large windows throughout and French doors connecting the kitchen and living room to the terrace. There is even a Solarium, which was used by the previous owners of the penthouse as an office, according to the real estate agents who held the listing, Frans H. Preidel and Darrin Chin of Brown Harris Stevens. Upstairs, a “great” room with a large fireplace and oversized windows provides a southern view.

According to the Post, Cohen’s current West Village digs is also located in a Bing Brothers building.
