A wild-sounding immersive LED entertainment venue is joining SoFi Stadium at Hollywood Park

SoFi Stadium, host venue of Super Bowl LVI and anchoring site of the 2028 Summer Olympics, is getting a flashy new neighbor at Hollywood Park, the burgeoning behemoth of an entertainment complex-slash-mixed-use development located at the old Hollywood Park racetrack near Los Angeles International Airport in Inglewood, California.

As recently announced, Cosm, a global experiential media and immersive technology company, has signed on to open its first-ever public venue at Hollywood Park, the largest urban development of its kind in the Western United States. Featuring a roughly 87-foot diameter LED dome, the planned 65,000-square-foot venue will rise within Hollywood Park’s sprawling retail district and is designed by the Los Angeles office of Dallas–headquartered HKS Architects, which also designed SoFi Stadium.

Construction work on the yet-to-be-named, planetarium-esque venue is set to kick-off this fall, ahead of next year’s partial completion of phase one of Hollywood Park’s retail district. Per a press announcement shared this week with AN, a bulk (323,000 square feet) of the retail district’s first phase, totaling a half-million square feet, will open to visitors next spring.

As for what kind of events will be held at the 1,700-capacity venue, it’s slated to be a mix of what Cosm described as “live sports and entertainment, experiential events and content, immersive art, music, and more.” The forthcoming location is slated to be the “first venue of its kind to bring entertainment to life by utilizing Cosm’s revolutionary domed and compound curved LED technology,” the company detailed, noting that guests “will be able directly experience immersive content through the company’s proprietary, best-in-class technology that seamlessly bridges the gap between virtual and physical realities.”

Sound heady.

“We’re redefining the way the world experiences content and up-leveling fandom by opening our first Cosm venue in the center of the entertainment capital of the world,” detailed Jeb Terry, Cosm’s president and CEO, in a statement.  “For decades, we’ve powered some of the most iconic and entertaining experiences for our partners around the globe. Now, we’re powering our own. Cosm isn’t just a place, it’s a feeling. It’s the energy of the crowd, the exhilaration of sitting courtside at the biggest sporting events, the thrill of standing front row at your dream concert, the intensity of being enveloped in immersive environments that you have to experience to believe. Cosm is bringing that to life – first in Los Angeles, then around the world.”

Joining Sofi Stadium—home to both the NFL’s Los Angles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers—along with the forthcoming retail district and just-announced Cosm venue during subsequent development phases at Hollywood Park will be several million square feet of creative office space, a hotel, and as many as 2,500 residences. The entire complex will be anchored by 25 acres of parkland and open space designed by Studio-MLA, including the already-completed Lake Park, a 12-acre green space flanking a large, stormwater-harvesting man-made water feature.
