A Spanish Palazzo Featured in The Crown Is Headed to Auction
In the market for an über-opulent vacation home? How about one with an elaborate Turkish bath, a massage gazebo, and an infinity pool with Mediterranean Sea views? A luxurious Spanish palazzo that served as a filming location for a recent episode of The Crown checks all those boxes and more–and is about to go to auction for a starting price of $17.9 million with no reserve, according to Robb Report.
Known as Palazzo Delle Luce in Marbella, Spain, the Mediterranean-style estate was the scenic backdrop where Egyptian film producer Dodi Fayed called his father to discuss his burgeoning romance with Princess Diana in the most recent season of the popular Netflix series. (In real life, Dodi and Diana’s relationship came to a tragic end with the infamous 1997 car crash that took both of their lives.)
The sprawling structure features a grand creamy-white facade lined with terraces and topped with sandy-hued roof tiles. Inside, the seven-bedroom and seven-bathroom dwelling boasts over 19,760 square feet of living space. Upon entering the home via a massive cobblestone courtyard centered by a large fountain, guests are greeted by a double-height foyer featuring white marble floors and a winding staircase topped by a massive skylight. Custom Murano glass chandeliers, sconces, floor inlays, and balusters all featuring gold accents add extra opulence to the impressive entry.
Other interior highlights include a wine cellar lined with brick arches, a private movie theater clad in red velvet, and a Turkish bath and spa that can accommodate eight. Outside, the six-acre plot includes panoramic mountain and ocean views, a huge infinity pool flanked by a covered two-story “entertainment space” lined with floor-to-ceiling arched windows, a massage gazebo, and manicured lawns with lush landscaping, palm trees, and water features.
Bids on the abundant abode will be placed through Sotheby’s Concierge Auctions between January 13 and 15.
