Second installment of Material Alchemy pops up in Aspen

Earlier this summer, Carpenters Workshop Gallery and Marianne Boesky Gallery presented “Material Alchemy Part I” in Aspen, highlighting works from the likes of Ingrid Donat, Virgil Abloh, Jammie Holmes, and Sarah Meyohas. The next chapter, “Material Alchemy Part II ” (running through September 5), explores Italy’s radical Arte Povera movement through pieces by the pioneering Pier Paolo Calzolari, as well as Vincenzo De Cotiis, who will showcase recycled fiberglass and stromatolite creations from his Interlude collection. They will be bolstered by selections from talents including the Campana Brothers, Rick Owens, and Pierre Jeanneret.

Galerie Philia orchestrates exhibition in two Jean Nouvel villas

Two beguiling structures designed by architect Jean Nouvel on France’s Côte d’Azur are the dreamy settings for Galerie Philia’s “Racines Aériennes” exhibition (running through October 14). Villa Maeterlinck, in Nice, is carved directly into the rocks and flaunts rooms that look on to the sea, while a few minutes away, Villa St. Jean Cap Ferrat has a steel-framed glass roof and disappears into the landscape. Both are transformed into welcoming modern homes adorned with furniture and objects, including Andrés Monnier’s hand-carved stone firepit, Arno Declercq’s steel and sheep-wool daybed, and Studio Julien Manaira’s aluminum Jigsaw chair.
