Hender Scheme x Frama
Over the last few years, Hender Scheme, the Tokyo-based, cult-favorite footwear and accessories label founded by Ryo Kashiwazaki, has made an even bigger splash by partnering with such luxury icons as Tod’s and Lexus. The label’s versatile appeal is highlighted yet again in a range of lifestyle goods—from folded-leather trays to slippers—brought to life by Frama, the multidisciplinary Copenhagen design brand. Merging Japanese craftsmanship with a sleek Scandinavian aesthetic, the pieces illuminate Hender Scheme’s signature vegetable-tanned leathers, often exploring their relationship to other materials. Consider the industrial-inspired Adam stool, with its space-saving leather basket nestled between legs of stone gray steel, or the lightweight Tasca table, juxtaposing a snaking spiral of leather against cool aluminum.
Pierre Charpin x Saint-Louis
Crystalware typically signifies special occasion feasting, but the 29-piece Cadence collection, the latest from French visual artist Pierre Charpin for the historic, King Louis XV–approved Saint-Louis, is boldly imbued with a casual sensibility. Ripe for everyday living, glass stems are shortened, for example, and table lamps and pendants are adorned with paper shades. Running the gamut from highballs and bowls to vases and lighting, these mouth-blown crystal works featuring linear cuts made by hand are at once informal and elegant.
House of Nomad x Anthropologie
Most of Berkeley Minkhorst and Kelley Lentini’s interior design projects are graced with handpicked treasures amassed from their frequent trips to Mexico and Thailand. On a visit to Panama, the founders of Charlotte, North Carolina– and Charleston, South Carolina–based House of Nomad (their sister furniture and home decor shops in both cities are brimming with global finds) fell in love with the handiwork of local artisans, sparking a capsule collection for Anthropologie, which already stocks wallpapers, pillows, and tableware in collaboration with the design firm. Along with laboriously constructed molas, vividly hued textiles woven by women from the indigenous Guna (formerly Kuna) community, there are intricately beaded Embera masks fashioned out of chunga palm fibers and vegetable dyes to enliven walls.
Nathalie du Pasquier x Raawii
The peg rail just got a lot more mod. As does any product when put in the creative hands of French-born, Milan-based painter Nathalie du Pasquier, who also founded the 1980s design movement Memphis Group. Danish brand Raawii recently tapped the artist to create a series of wall-mounted coatracks, which were also featured in AD‘s September issue. Playfully geometric and thoughtful in color combos, each of the three wood styles and sizes is a delight.
